    Laser tube cutting machines are widely used in metal fabrication, structural engineering, automotive parts, furniture, and mechanical equipment manufacturing. In the industry, customers often confuse 4-axis and 5-axis tube laser cutters, as their processing capabilities and application scenarios are completely different.

    1. 4-Axis Laser Tube Cutting Machine (Standard Type)

    A standard 4-axis tube laser system consists of X, Y, Z linear axes + A tube rotating axis. The cutting head is fixed vertically and cannot tilt during operation.
     
    Processing features:
    • Only supports vertical 90° straight cuts
    • Able to cut holes, slots, square cuts, and simple intersecting lines on round tubes, square tubes, and rectangular tubes
    • Cannot make welding bevel angles
    Application: Suitable for ordinary frames, guardrails, furniture pipes, and general structural parts that do not require welding bevel preparation. It is cost-effective and ideal for mass production of standard pipe parts.
     

    2. 5-Axis 3D Laser Tube Cutter (High-end Type)

    The 5-axis system adds an extra B-axis tilting cutting head based on the 4-axis structure. The laser head can swing freely at different angles, realizing true 3D dynamic cutting.
     
    Processing features:
    • Supports all functions of 4-axis machines
    • Capable of V-type, Y-type, and X-type welding bevel cutting
    • Achieves compound angle cutting, inclined intersecting lines, and multi-surface 3D forming
    • Weld-ready cutting without secondary grinding or manual beveling
    Application: Widely used in construction steel structures, automotive chassis, engineering machinery, pressure vessels, and thick-wall pipe industries with strict welding requirements.

    3. Core Industry Difference (Key Judgment Standard)

    The most intuitive way to distinguish:
     
    If the machine only cuts vertical flat ends → 4-axis
    If the machine can tilt the laser head to cut bevel angles → 5-axis (3D)

    4. How to Choose

    • Choose 4-axis: Simple pipe cutting, low budget, ordinary non-bevel processing
    • Choose 5-axis: Thick wall tubes, welding fabrication, complex 3D pipe structures, high precision requirements
